Professional aerial capture: photography and filming with Portugal Helicopters
Want to capture Portugal from the sky? Portugal Helicopters carries out flights dedicated to aerial photography and filming (SPO – Specialized Operations), ideal for film productions, advertising, television, events or institutional projects. With a capable fleet and experienced pilots, we guarantee the safety and flexibility needed to get the perfect shot, always within the applicable legislation.
How it works:
- Sending a request: contact us by email indicating the purpose of the shoot, the route or locations you want and all the information about the project. This way, we’ll be able to carry out a better analysis and meet your expectations.
- Personalized proposal: we send you a quote adapted to the type of operation.
- Confirmation and technical details: after acceptance, we indicate the registration number of the aircraft allocated to the project and assist in completing the mandatory AAN (National Aeronautical Authority) form and other procedures.
- Briefing: we schedule a meeting with the pilot in charge of the mission to finalize the details of the flight and the intended route.
- Official authorizations: we take care of all other communications and requests to the relevant authorities to ensure that the flight goes ahead.
- Day of flight: arrival at the departure point must be at least 30 minutes in advance. This time can be changed if additional equipment needs to be assembled.
-
Aerial filming flights require prior approval from the authorities and may be subject to operational restrictions, so scheduling always depends on this external validation. Our team monitors the entire process, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and safely.

1. What is an SPO flight?
An SPO flight is a special operation, such as filming, aerial photography, technical inspections or other professional work.
2. Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. All SPO flights require planning and prior authorization, so advance booking is mandatory.
3. Are there any legal requirements or authorizations?
Yes. SPO flights are subject to coordination with air traffic control and approval from ANAC and AAN. We can only fly once all authorizations have been confirmed.
4. Can I choose the flight time freely?
We try to accommodate your preference, but schedules depend on operational approvals, air traffic control and weather conditions.
5. What documentation is required for passengers or staff on board?
All passengers must present a photo ID. For members of the technical team, additional professional documents or credentials may be required, depending on the type of operation.
6. What happens in the event of bad weather?
If weather conditions make it impossible to fly safely, the operation will be postponed or rescheduled. Safety is always the priority.
7. Can I bring equipment such as cameras?
Yes, as long as it has been previously communicated and approved by our team and the authorities, to ensure safety and legal compliance.
8. Is it possible to place a camera outside the helicopter?
Yes, as long as it has been previously requested and organized, we have a certified camera mount (from GoPro to Gimble) for our Robinson R44 helicopter.
9. Can the SPO flight be shared with other clients?
No. All SPO operations are private and personalized, guaranteeing total space and control for your production.
10. Can the flight be changed at the last minute?
Rarely, but it can happen due to air traffic control instructions, ANAC/AAN approvals or operational changes.
11. Is it possible to have companions on the flight?
It depends on the type of operation and the authorizations. Normally, only people essential to the mission can board.
12. Can I film and photograph during the flight?
Yes, the SPO operation is designed exactly for this purpose, but the equipment and positions must respect the aircraft’s safety regulations and load limits.
13. Can people with reduced mobility take part?
We make every effort to accommodate all necessary professionals, but situations of very limited mobility must be assessed on a case-by-case basis for safety and evacuation reasons. -
The passenger must comply with the safety conditions and other instructions. Cancellations will be accepted without penalty up to 48 hours before the flight. If the customer cancels the flight without 48 hours’ notice, there will be no refund. In the event of cancellation due to weather conditions or aircraft maintenance, we will reschedule the flight for a new date to be determined or refund the entire amount, with no right to any other compensation whatsoever.
